Countries Sum Up Results of Tourism |
Numerous Internet sources have revealed statistics on tourists’ visits to different countries in 2007. Basing on this information, we can trace last year’s main trends of development of the tourism industry and identify which countries were the most popular with holiday-makers.
Thus, the number of foreigners who visited France last year exceeded 80 million people. According to the national Ministry of Tourism, the tourist flow has increased by 5%, its main part consisting of Europeans, mainly citizens of Britain and Ireland. Spain has also become more popular with foreigners. The number of tourists who visited the country made up 59.2 million people, which is 1.7% more than last year. Holiday-makers brought €46.9 billion to the Spanish treasury. Spain is primarily visited by the citizens of Great Britain and Germany.
The number of tourists who visited Cuba last year was 3.5% less than in 2006. The Cuban Ministry of Tourism informs that the year of 2007 was a failure, and the Island of Freedom may yield its leading position among Caribbean pleasure resorts to the Dominican Republic and the Mexican resort of Cancun. Journeys to Cuba become rather expensive, since the exchange-value of peso towards dollar is changing which leads to increase in prices. Among other reasons of reduction of Cuba’s popularity are irregular supplies and inferior level of hotel services. |
