Hong-Kong – the most astonishing city of the planet. |

In 2007 Hong-Kong has been visited by 28,1 millions of guests – this is by 11,6% more than in 2006. In this year, the indicators promise to get even higher: the authorities expect that the amount of guests will make up to 30 millions. More than a half of the travelers arrive from various parts of China, but such visitors do not spend much funds in Hong-Kong and stay mostly for only one day. Every week 80 flights from Great Britain arrive here and the amount of guests from the United Kingdom made up 600 thousands in 2007. 1,1 million tourists arrived from the USA in the same year. Hon-Kong plans also to develop cruise branch of tourism: in may the megapolis will be presented at the Cruise Convention in Britain, taking place in South Hampton. According to the information from the executive president of the tourism Council of the city – Antony Lau, Hong-Kong is ideally conform to the requirements of this market segment. The popularity of the city noticeably grows because of the coming summer Olympic Games in China. Horse racing sporting activities will be held in Hong-Kong. Another event that will attract the guests is the 80-years anniversary of The Peninsula Hong Kong, one of the largest hotels in the world that is appointed for the 11-th of December. However, various events attached to the anniversary will be held during the whole year: the hotel promises it's guests special lodging offers, SPA and also yacht and helicopter tours. Hong-Kong is translated as “scented bay”: there was a time, when spices and scents were exported from here. Hong-Kong neighbors the southern China province Guandun and the special economic zone Henchjen. It is split into three parts, the Hong-Kong island itself, Coulun peninsula and New Territories. More that 80% of the movement the inhabitants of Hong-Kong perform by means of public transport. The system of the public transport includes metro (MTR), suburban and urban electrotrains (KCR), bus connections, ferries between the island and continental parts of the city and also the neighboring islands, tram, and funicular, connecting the city center with the Victoria Peak. The moving pavements – travolators and escalators are also being used as a means of transport – such a combined escalator connects the lower terrace of the Hong-Kong island with the top terrace. |
