Passengers will have to show their piercing. |
Transport Security Administration (TSA) USA has announced that the rules of checking of the passengers that have piercing on their bodies will be changed. The decision has been made after a complaint of a woman that was forced to take off piercing on the nipples with the pincers instead of letting her aboard of the plane.
37-years old Mandy Hemlin has demanded excuses and her lawyer has sent a letter to TSA with the request to perform an investigation about the infringement of the civil rights. Hemlin has been passing a check to get on the flight to Dallas on the 24-th of February. She passed the large metal detector without problems. Then a TSA agent began to check her and Hemlin has told the woman that she has piercing on her nipples. The agent told that to her male-colleagues and one of them has asked her to take it off. Hemlin told that they are permanent and cannot be taken off, but she could go a private room with a female-agent and show it. After that she got an objection that if she does not take the piercing off, she won't board the plane.
On Friday the TSA site told that the agents have acted completely conform to the rules. Nevertheless they admitted that the checking procedure in such cases should be changed: the passengers should either show piercing or take it off.
"We admit that the existing procedures arise difficulties and are sometimes irritating and we regret about the situation with this woman. We thank her for the understanding of the matter, that triggered the change of the rules in order to avoid such situations in future". |
