Top-10 of the smallest countries |
Everybody knows already that among the small countries there are also tiny countries - that can be crossed on foot. Almost all of them are full-fledged members of the UNO and other international organizations, they can send their representatives to the Olympiads and Championships.
The small country size does not have anything common with the world popularity and the best examples for that are the world trips of the Pope or the world gambling center in Monaco.
Four of the ten tiny states are located in Europe, three in Oceania, two in the Caribbean and one in Asia. Four countries are located at the continental area, three among those do not have sea access, and six of them are located on the islands.
Each of them supports it's economics in his own way: In Vatican - this function is delegated to the powerful apparatus of the Rome-Catholic church that has more that a billion of catholics. Monaco makes it's earning from the tourists and lovers of Formula-1. The incomes of Lichtenstein and San-Marino are the tourists and emitting of the postage-stamps. Nauru's bread consists of the credit-financial operations, Maldives - tourism. Coconut palms and fish support the economics of Tuvalu and Marshall Islands, Saint Kitts cultivates sugar-cane and Grenada produces nutmeg - it is painted on the flag of the country.
If we compare the territory of these states with a big city, then such states as Lichtenstein, Tuvalu, Monaco and Vatican would occupy only a couple of districts of such cities as New York. |
