Best places for women to live |
The UNO development program has calculated the yearly "Gender-related development index (GDI)", that includes the inequality between men and women in various countries according to such parameters as the longevity and quality of life and the education level of the genders.
The first 10 worst countries for women to live, in particular because of the homicide, violence threat and high probability to get infected with AIDS, is:
- 1. Afghanistan
- 2. Democratic Republic of Congo
- 3. Iraq
- 4. Nepal
- 5. Sudan
- 6. Guatemala
- 7. Mali
- 8. Pakistan
- 9. Saudi Arabia
- 10. Somali
It is worth to mention that in Mali each tenth woman dies during the child delivery or during pregnancy and in Pakistan the crime of men are punished by the group rape of their women (According to the data of the Equality Now organization).
But in the following ten countries women can count on a quite high longevity, high level of education and decent quality of life:
- 1. Iceland
- 2. Norway
- 3. Australia
- 4. Canada
- 5. Ireland
- 6. Sweden
- 7. Switzerland
- 8. Japan
- 9. Netherlands
- 10. France
