The solemn opening of the unique Museum of the News has taken place in Washington. It will have the name Newseum - News and Museun in one word. According to the idea of the creators, the expositions will demonstrate to the visitors - how the information services work and how the news are made.

As the president of the Newseum Peter Pritchard said, this will allow to improve the mutual understanding and friendship between the journalists and the public. "One of the main goals of our museum is to show how the freedom of speech works, that is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. constitution.",- said Pritchard.

These ideas of the museum founders are shown in the design of the building: a marble plate with the height of 22,5 meters is installed at the entrance to the museum and it has the text of the First Amendment engraved on it, that guarantees the Freedom of Speech. The front of the building is made of glass, so that the people walking by can see what happens inside.

The expositions of the museum with the area of more thatn 23 thousands square meters, tell the visitors about the five-centuries long history of the informational industry. On the seven floors of the building there are 14 galleries dedicated to the history of the informational journalistic and also theaters, shops and various services.

The highest public attention has drawn the interactive NBC news redaction with the area of 650 square meters. In the eight specially equipped sections of this part of the museum there are small television studios, where the visitors could try themselves as the live air correspondents.

Not far away there are computers with the games that allow to try yourself as a photo-journalist, editor or reporter of a newspaper. So, the visitors can make an imitation of the photo-report from the place of the rescue of a small girl that was drowning in the water - you should turn on the video on the computer that has been taken simultaneously from the three points of view and switching from one to another - snap the best shots in the realtime.

Besides, according to the scenario, in one of the games the visitor has within the role of the reporter - during a short period of time - to interview the witnesses of the escape of the animals from the circus, to gather all the facts and to reconstruct the vivid picture of the event, reveal the reasons and create a bright headline for the article. In the final stage the "computer" chief-editor appreciates the professional talents of the player.

According the the idea of the organizers, all this will let the visitors to dive into the working atmosphere of the redaction.

Besides, in the Newseum there is a "First page gallery", where the first pages of the 80 newspapers of the whole world will be exposed daily. Using the Internet, the visitors will have the possibility to read 500 more various informational editions.

The first stationary museum exposition dedicated to the tragic events of the 11-th of September of the year 2001 has been placed in the "Gallery 9/11". It includes all the informational messaged that came out in the world press to the tragedy of that two days - the 11-th and 12-th of September 2001.
