The religious police of the Saudi Arabia has prohibited the sales of red roses and other goods that are often being presented at the St. Valentine's Day. The committee of the goodwill and vice prevention - these are the order keepers of the islamic customs in this country - have banned the flowers and the gift package from the sales.

The prices of the roses at the "black market" are already beating the tops. The Authorities affirm that the celebration of the St. Valentine's Day and of the other non-muslim holidays is a sin.

The St. Valentine's Day, when all the lovers in many countries give presents to each other is considered an additional reason for the extramarital relations, what is a crime itself in Saudi Arabia.

Some Saudi have placed their orders in the flower shops already many days and even weeks before the holiday - trying not to get suspected.

"Sometimes we deliver the bouquets in the middle of the night or in the early morning, to evade suspicion.",- told his secret one of the florists.

Other lovers arrange their dates in more liberal neighbor countries: Bahrain or the United Arab Emirates.

In Saudi Arabia, the authorities, guided by the religious thoughts, are trying to prevent the mix of women and men that are not spouses. To get married, to work, travel or get education, a woman needs a permission from a man: father, guardian or husband.
