Two weeks’ leave is on the way out |
According to the research, carried out by “Holiday Inn”, today the traditional holidays of two weeks are not so much popular as earlier.
52% of the British, for example, are not going on two weeks’ leave this summer, telling that the main reason is the high price of such a holiday. However, the journeys of 3-4 days have become more popular.
A common family usually takes 4 short trips per year and spends about 349 pounds for each of them.
The questioning of 5000 people, carried out by “Holiday Inn”, has shown that 24% of respondents can’t afford to take a trip during school holidays because during this period the price on tours is sharply rising. Another 24% can’t afford to make a tour longer than a few days, regardless of the season.
The majority of people (72%) believe that a shorter holiday is a more economical and affordable way to spend time with their family.
4 of 10 respondents told that regular family holidays helped them not to feel guilty for impossibility to spend enough time with children because of work.
Today long holidays are criticized. A quarter of respondents don’t like to spend a big amount of the earned money for only one trip per year.
15% hate prolonged flights, and one of 10 doesn’t like long journeys by train, ferry or car.
19% hate a long process of packing bags and then their unpacking, what is necessary to do for a long tour. One of ten hates to wash clothes at the return home.
6% are worried about work during their holidays, but 5 % just miss the home comfort. |
