5 lucky people took one of the greatest trips in their life being the only passengers of the transatlantic flight. American Airlines had to pay for that, and it was criticized by many environment protecting groups. The airline is charged with the unreasonable consumption of the fuel which is harmful for nature, during this flight 13 000 liters of fuel were used for each passenger. It’s possible to tell that every passenger exhaled 35.77 tones of carbon dioxide. An average car produces this amount of gas for 160 thousand kilometers.

To send an almost empty plane is the improper fuel consumption. Every passenger not through his fault harmed the environment 45 times more than he would have done if the plane had been full”, said the representative of the organization “Friends of the Earth”.

5 passengers flied 6400 kilometers from Chicago to London in the business class and 2 members of the crew fell on every passenger. Their flight was delayed for 14 hours and only those 5 men didn’t manage to order tickets for another flight. The company decided not to permit the flight because it expected a full plane for the backhaul to Chicago and in addition there were no alternative flights and it could cause problems with the load.

The ecological groups such as “Friends of the Earth” demand that airlines must be responsible for the emission of the CO2 and begin, for example, to pay fuel charges. “The government must stop to give airlines the privileges which allow them to do this with impunity”.

However, in spite of all the accusations, the editor of Flight International Magazine responded that the amount of the passengers aboard is not important. “The air industry is still a business”. It is not profitable for the future of the company to refuse the passengers only because they are few. The clients will be discontented and the airline will lose respect very soon.
