According to the report published on Monday by the American Department of Trade, the record number of tourists – 56.7 million of people has visited USA in the year 2007.

In the year 2007 the tourists have brought 122.7 billion dollars to the USA economy, providing 8.5 million of people, involved in the tourist industry, with work.

The previous record on the number of foreigners coming to the USA with short-term visits was set up in the year 2001, when the country was visited by 51.2 million people. After the terrorist acts in the year 2001, which caused the stiffening of the entry regulation, the flow of tourists, especially from Europe, has drastically decreased. If we exclude from the total number of foreigners, who came to the USA in the year 2007, the citizens of Canada and Mexico, for whom the special entry regulations are operating, the number of tourists still remains 8% less than in the year 2000.

The biggest number of tourists from the “opposite ocean shore” in the year 2007 has come to the USA from Great Britain – 4.5 million people. Second is Japan – 3.53 million of tourists. The top ten of countries, the tourists of which actively visited USA in the year 2007 includes also: France (997.5 thousand people), South Korea (806.2 thousand people), Australia (669.5 thousand people) and Italy (634.1 thousand people).

Generally, the USA tourist industry is appraised at 1.2 trillion dollars and demonstrates the constant growth during last 19 years.
