Sidney being the gates opening to the continent was for several years already awarded the name of “the most beautiful city in the world”. In order to be convinced in that I advice you to visit this city and see for yourselves its beauties. It is desirable to do this from February till March or in November when the weather is mostly favourable; so that you could fulfil all excursions and no bad weather would hamper.
The journeys or ordinary rest are usually limited in time. Therefore, you should plan your route beforehand in order not only to be able to see as much as possible but also to get acquainted with the Australian lifestyle, to understand it and to enjoy it.
Thus, briefly speaking about what exactly in this city attracts not only millions of tourists but also people from different countries of the world to settle for permanent residence, who already represent some definite exotics of the country creating an image of complete internationality, and each person who penetrated into the Sydney quarter feels himself like in different parts of this planet.
If you would look at the city from the sea side, the similarity with New-York is undoubted. The tremendous towers of skyscrapers rise above the centre of the city, certainly they are much lower than those in New-York but are rather impressive to create indelible impression of concrete jungles, that are diluted and given a particular “marine” colouring by a marvellous deep-water harbour called Port Jackson. In fact the harbour consists of three parts: the Northern harbour, The Middle harbour and The Sydney harbour. It should be noted that an entrance from the Pacific to the harbour is very unusual and is situated between two capes with rough coasts, the distance between these two capes is only two kilometres. So, is is rather difficult to guess that the size of the harbour is rather huge without entering the harbour.
Another masterpiece of the city is an immense bridge - Harbour Bridge, from which you may enjoy unforgettable view of the city. It joins the southern and northern parts of the city. The gigantic delicate arch of the bridge hanging over the water of a wide bay is both practical and beautiful as the height of the highway above the water is a near 52 meters allowing the largest vessels to pass under it.
But, in fact photographers’ favourite, or the main place of interest and the main symbol of the city is Opera House, the genius of architectural art. Someone compares it to vast light sails, someone – with many many white sea shells embedded one into another, someone - with the pearl surrounded from three sides with azure waters of the bay. It is marvellous at any time, but most of all they like to take pictures of it in the evening, when the lights of opera theatre are on, when miracle things happen in 1000 rooms of the theatre, i.e. in concert hall and other halls designated for opera, ballet, drama performances, symphonic and solo orchestras, chamber music, cinema films, exhibitions and congresses, restaurants and make-up rooms, when the courage and creativity of the building itself interlaces with art and fabulous talent.
One of splendid advantages is the direct exit to ocean beaches that are of vast quantity and diversity to satisfy anybody’s tastes and preferences. There such beaches where it is prohibited to swim, and is only allowed for surfers; there are some beaches where there are no waves at all; there are some where the cosy restaurants and cafes are placed right by the water; there are some empty beaches where you would not see anyone and where you can drive a car. In short, you have the choice; you should only determine your desire!
It is much faster to reach some of the regions by water. Ferries, catamarans constantly scurry about from one side of the bay to another; also they help to reach suburban districts distant from the centre.
One of the most interesting places that are a vast amount in Sydney is the main berth Circular Key serving as the performance place of street actors, musicians, aboriginals playing didgeridoo (traditional wind instrument of aboriginals), and acrobats. Here you can see a copy of famous rebellious vessel “Bounty” being at an anchor and where excursions are offered.
From Circular Key you can reach the Rocks where the first settlements were situated at the coast.
In the city you may get acquainted with the charming parks: Koala Park and Taronga Park. This is a nice opportunity to find out Australian live nature, its flora and fauna in one day. The slope territory directed to the bay is enormous and you can see almost all different animals of Australia and other continents.
It is difficult to describe all beauties, points of interest and incredible places and to figure these emotions, impressions of this city into words, because Sydney is like a big book counting hundreds of pages, that expects not a fast reading but throughout thinking and re-reading many many times more.
Therefore one thing is quite evident, it is necessary to visit this city and this continent, and a pleasure from Sydney, magnificent city at picturesque harbour in azure spacious parts of the Pacific is guaranteed!
