Chinese torture for the tourists at the Olympics |
China was and remains the police state, where the life of every person is in the hands of the powerful and pitiless state. And this kingdom are going to enter the foreign tourists, who are grown up with the ideals of humanism and personal freedom. All these freedoms have to be forgotten if you come to China to see the Olympics.
However, the restrictions will begin already before the flight to China. From the 11-th of March and till the end of the Summer Olympics in China there will be new baggage rules for the airline passengers. In spite of the fact that in Europe the rules of transportation of liquids and medicines are being constantly softened, with the idea that the personalities of the passengers should be respected, the Chinese authorities on the contrary - have prohibited all liquids in the hand luggage. Now even the necessary medicines and child food should be checked in to the baggage compartment.
You should inform the airline about the trip with a child beforehand while buying the ticket to China so that the airline can arrange the food for the kid. The pleasure of a flight for the parents and their neighbor passengers is evident, when even a drink to the child should be done with the help of the stewardess. But the situation is much more sad for those, who need urgent medicines, such wide-spread as for example - insulin.
The horror with the medicines begins already with the fact that all the necessary liquids should be presented for the check at the airport beforehand. Who will perform the check and how long will it take to check what exactly are the liquids presented by the tourists - is still unknown. But it is already clear that you should come for the registration a couple of hours earlier. After the check - the medicines will be given to the cabin crew. But the passengers will not get them even in the air. All the medicines will be kept in the baggage compartment and will be given to the passengers by the crew on demand. So, to get an insulin injection, the diabetic will have to call the stewardess, wait till she goes to the baggage area, finds exactly his medicine and brings to the cabin.
This is hardly the thing what the ill people would wish themselves during the flight, when they need to have the medicine handy. It is to mention that the Olympics has not began, but these rules are already active. Probably because the tourists should get accustomed to these new conditions beforehand.
But this is not the end of the story of the tourists in Beijing.
Beijing has such a high air pollution level, that the experts are horrified and the serious potable water lack problems have resulted rationing. Well, these problems wouldn't probably touch the tourists directly, but it is not a real pleasure to go out to the streets of the city, where the lack of water for personal needs is present. Taking a taxi would not solve this problem very much. At least because of the fact that the taxi drivers mostly not only work in their cars, but also live in these and are surely having problems with the shower. The recent resolution of the Chinese government states that the taxi drivers should regularly take a bath, restrain from extraordinary haircuts, give up smoking and spitting in the car and get rid of the unpleasant smell. But the authorities don't tell where should the Beijing taxi drivers, earning in the average $200 per month, will get funds for the regular bathing.
Following Europe and USA, the black days for the smokers have come to Beijing too. The Chinese authorities have began the active struggle with the tobacco smoke. There is already a fine imposed not only for the taxi drivers but also for the passengers. During the Olympics the smoking ban will be active in public places, sporting areas, hotels and restaurants. Smoking will be allowed only in specially equipped areas and places with signs. Hopefully, they will be translated to the most popular languages or at least these will be supplied with meaningful paintings. But the sales of the tobacco products near the sporting and training areas will be totally prohibited. So, you could find the place to smoke, if you have already bought cigarettes for you.
About 800 thousands of foreign tourists will come to the Olympics, according to the experts. And to control their behavior, the Chinese authorities have introduced special punishments - for example, for spitting in public places there is a 3,5 pound sterling fine. However, a possibility to spit free of charge is considered - during the Olympics there will be special patrols in an orange uniform that will give special spitting plastic bags to those who need it.
By the way, these patrols will take care not only about the spitting on the streets of the city, but also about the swearing. But because these patrols will consist out of local Chinese that themselves have half a mind to spit on the streets, their work will be controlled by the special police troops. These police troops will be probably controlled by some more secret service, supposedly.
Bad luck have also those tourists that would like to taste the exotic Chinese cuisine, for example dishes out of snakes or shark's fin. On the meeting of the Chinese Parliament there was already a suggestion to exclude these dishes from the menu of the summer Olympics in Beijing, because they can harm the international China image.
The Chinese have serious attention to the preparation for the Olympics - there are about 238 of the new rules, regulating the everyday life of the people. Among those - there is a possibility to deport a foreigner out of the country if he "disturbs the sportive contest" - such a diffused determination can meet almost anyone.
So, the tourists during the games should forget smoking, spitting and swearing. However, the last will be hard to control by the policemen - they will be hardly able to understand all the foreign languages at once to understand the game of words. |
