Tthe problem is that the majority of drinks offered do not quench your thirst, you begin to feel tiredness after them and also become a frequenter of a small cabin lavatory.
Excluding water, practically any beverage – alcoholic or not, - will contain high level of sugar. Sugar will promptly increase the level of insulin. As soon as the level of insulin decreases till the initial level, energy will leave you and you will feel worse than before drinking the beverage.
It would be better if they hanged large posters «Drink More Water!!!», but the majority of us prefer to beguile weary hours of flight with drinking stronger drinks.
If you want something more inspiring than just simple water, consider the following:

1. Bloody Mary
40g of vodka
half of glass of tomato juice
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
Worcestershire sauce (to taste)
Tabasco sauce (to taste)

Even in business class you will hardly be served with a cocktail made right on board. You better ask a stewardess to bring you the ingredients and mix them yourself. Avoid ready palletized mixtures, they contain fructose syrup concentrate that is even worse for you than simple sugar.

Why do we suggest Bloody Mary?
Tomato juice influences your level of sugar not so strongly as club soda or orange juice. It will give you energy. Also the salt content will prevent you from frequent visits of lavatory. Tomato juice will feed organism with dietary fibre until you get normal food. Spices will make the taste more flavoured and increase the metabolism that is important during some hours you spend sitting on board.

2. Mary the Virgin
Everything best from Bloody Mary only without vodka. It has a softer taste, so we recommend adding more spices. The ace of trumps in these drinks is tomato juice (it contains lycopene for cancer prophylaxis). So make sure that it is indeed juice and not just simple red liquid.

3. Ginger ale
Do you feel not quite healthy? Ginger ale will save the situation. It is one of the best beverages to survive the turbulence; ginger will ease your stomach and prevent queasiness.
Though there are a few disadvantages, the majority of promoted brands of ale contain much sugar that leads to increase of insulin and decrease of energy.
If you have a choice try dietetic ale or ginger beer. If no, drink much water after ale in order to make the sugar down.

4. Brandy and ginger
This beverage also helps to sustain the turbulence. Usually it is prepared with some Elderflower cordial (Elder fruit nectar) added, but you can add only juice of lemon.

1 shot brandy
1 shot Elderflower cordial (or squash a lemon)
add ginger ale

Brandy will warm up throat and ale will ease the stomach. Unfortunately this drink also contains much sugar so try to limit yourself with one or two portions of brandy during the time of flight.

5. H2O goes great guns!
No matter what exactly you drink, you should necessarily drink water as if you will not get it for a long tome after landing.
Organism becomes anhydrous faster when usual when you are in the airplane. The process speeds twice if you drink alcohol or beverages that contain caffeine.
Therefore it is really dangerous to drink alcohol during the flight. It is more difficult for your tired anhydrous organism to sustain the same burden that it can easily sustain on earth.

So next time when a service trolley will approach you, choose Bloody Mary and a bottle of water. In this case both you and a crying baby will have a chance to fly safe and sound to your destination point.
