Here are the partial results of the research of an American consulting company AIRNIC, during which the prices for gas in various countries of the world has been compared. All prices indicated in the local currency were converted into US dollars and as the universal measure unit - the gallon has been used (one gallon - is about 3,785 liters). The gas prices have been checked in the alst week of March 2008. The top ten of the countries with the most expensive gas are:
- Sierra-Leone ($18,42 for a gallon)
- Aruba ($12,03)
- Bosnia-Herzegovina ($10,86)
- Eritrea ($9,58)
- Norway ($8,73)
- Great Britain ($8,38)
- Netherlands ($8,37)
- Monaco ($8,31)
- Iceland ($8,28)
- Belgium ($8,22)
The cheapest gas is sold in Venezuela ($0,12 for a gallon), Iran ($0,40), Saudi Arabia ($0,45), Libya ($0,50), Swaziland ($0,54), Qatar ($0,73), Bahrain ($0,81), Egypt ($0,89), Kuwait ($0,90) and at the Seychelles ($0,98). The majority of the countries with the extra-cheap gas are large oil exporters. However among the countries with the super-expensive fuel are also the large producers of the "black gold" - Great Britain, Norway and the Netherlands. |
