American scientists have calculated the amount of victims of the future earthquake

The American scientists have estimated the damage that the hypothetical earthquake in California would bring to the USA. The full list of the damage, composed by the specialists of the Geological Bureau of USA and the Geological Bureau of California is published at the pubs.usgs.gov web-site.

The earthquake with the magnitude of 7,8 will occur about 10 o'clock in the morning. The southern part of California will be in the epicentre. About 1,8 thousands people will die and more than 50 thousands will get injured. More than 600 thousands buildings will be destroyed and thousands of people will become homeless. The quake will damage the water pipe, power lines, roads and railway tracks. The total damage will exceed 200 billion dollars.

Such scenario of a destructive earthquake has been written by 300 scientists, basing on the seismological and geographical data. With the use of the obtained information they created a computer model of the future quakes with the use of which the engineers and constructors could estimate the buildings destruction level in the area of the quake. Taking into consideration all this data the sociologists could determine the amount of the victims and the loss for the economy.

The scientists have developed a detailed scenery of the catastrophe to prepare the population of the state to the possible consequences of the quake and to make sure that the emergency services are prepared. There was a plan of training activities prepared according to this scenario that will start on the 13-th of November 2008. Within The Golden Guardian project the scientists will arrange various training activities in the state.

Earlier, the specialists of the Geological Bureau of USA have predicted that till 2038 with the probability of 99 percent there will be a powerful earthquake in California.

The quakes in California are linked with the San-Andreas break-up that goes along the Pacific Ocean coast through the territory of the California state.
