For the whole human history, work has taken the most of the life time. During the last 100 years in the economically developed countries the annual amount of working time has been reduced in average by 40% and makes up about 1570 hours. For example, in Russia this indicator is about 2000. The Russians are working a lot and follow their famous proverb - the whole time to the job and an hour to the fun. They are surely not the first ones in the rating of the amount of the public holidays and vacation length.

In Europe the average vacation length makes up about 4 weeks. For example an average British vacation is 28 days, in Spain - 30, Germany - 35, France - 37 days per year and in Italy - 42!

In Finland the "holiday" year is counted from the 1-st of May till the 30-th of April of the next year. For each month worked out during the year there are 2 days of paid holiday. It makes 24 days for 12 months. But if for example a new employee got his place on the 1-st of January, he will get vacation only for the period from the 1-st of January till the 1-st of May - 8 days. With the increase of the working experience the whole length of the annual holiday is automatically increased and can reach 5-6 seeks. And in some industry branches, if the vacation is taken outside of the hot vacation season - from June till October - it is even offered sesquialteral.

The length of the yearly holiday in Hungary, depending from the working experience, profession and age can make 20-30 working days. For example, if a 25-years old person is working more than a year in the same organization, he has the right for the basic vacation - 20 working days. Each following year of work in this company adds an additional day to his holidays. So, following the law logic, when this employee will reach the age of 45 - he will have the right for a 30 working days holiday.

In the non-European countries, the length of the yearly holiday makes in general 22 days, in Australia - 20 days, Columbia and New Zealand - 15 days. USA, Canada and Japan are in this list at the second position from the bottom.

In America the length of the vacation depends on the conditions of the employment contract. In the last years there has been a kind of general method developed that determines the length of the holiday. Each American gets 8 hours of working time for a month of work. In America they can get 10 paid vacation days after a year of work in the company and 17 after five years. A whole month of holidays is for those who worked in the company for more than 15-20 years.

According to the research data, 11% of the Americans have their rest for not more than 1 week per year. 31% have 2 weeks, 22% - three, 18% - four and 18% of the respondents have five or more weeks per year. And 20% of the Americans do not use their holiday at all.

Such people "present" yearly 415 million of rest days to their employers. In 2003 the employees of the American offices have "presented" $21 billion to the employers - this is the cost of the time of the vanished holiday.

The scientists have proven that lack of the full rest leads to the low productivity. But this fact is still not so frightening, as the another one - that the probability of heart attack is higher by 30% if a person does not have his rest. And the total rest on the contrary lowers the risk of death by 20%. So have you rest please.
