When you change the time zones significantly, a half-day starvation can ease the adaptation to the new timezone. The scientists of the Harvard medical school have revealed that the ingestion schedule is not less important for the human body as the habit to sleep at night.

The organism gets accustomed at least for 4 days if it gets as an orientation only the daylight change. The only efficient recommendation for the long distance travelers is to calculate the nearest breakfast time and to refuse from food completely 12-16 hours before this time. This is the only possibility to shorten the adaptation period up to 1 day.

According to the scientists, such high starvation effect that contributes to the human body setup change is connected with the ability of all the living creatures to accommodate in the extreme living conditions. So, a person that has changed several time zones, but did not put his body into a critical situation feels himself quite healthy and suffers only from the wish to sleep at day and to be active at night.

However, the organism that got accustomed to receive nutrition 5-6 times per days and after that left without food at least for 12 hours, enters the extreme adaptation mode. So, if you combine the first breakfast after a significant nutrition break and the beginning of the new daylight, the accommodation to the new timezone should be completed already on the next day.
