The rating has been composed after a research held at 13 touristic places that are also nominated for the status of the new wonder of the world.
The appraisal has been held with the use of a 100 point scale with the following criteria list: appearance, quality of service and additional service, for example an opportunity to buy a ticket in a special vending machine, handicap services, cafes in the area, souvenir shops ans others.
The first place went to Alhambra in Granada, Spain. This architectural ensemble of the Mauritian period, consisting of a mosque, palace and a fortress is located at a terrace hill in the Eastern part of the city. Alhambra has been built in the XIV-th century as the residence of the Mauritian governors.
The second place took Acropolis in the Athens, Greece. During two and half thousand years of it's existence it has been used by the Christians and Moslems. In the New Age the ancient look of the Acropolis has been mostly restored.
The third place occupies the Statue of Liberty in New York, USA. The full name of the statue is ""Liberty Enlightening the World". This sculpture has been presented by the citizens of France to the USA at the 100-th anniversary of the American revolution.
The fourth place took the Coliseum in Rome, Italy. This majestic construction, erected in the I-st century B.C. is the symbol of Rome.
At the end of the list is the London Tower, Great Britain. This is the oldest construction of the Great Britain that has been a residence for the British monarchs for a long time. Nowadays Tower is a historical monument and a museum that is listed in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. |
