Here is the rating of the most impressing subways of the planet. The authors of the rating have been taking into consideration not only the interior of the stations, but also the peculiarities of each separate subway.

The Tokyo subway that transports 8 million passengers per day is the most loaded in the world. But this subway is famous also because here work the so-called oshiya, what can literally be translated from Japanese as "pushers". These people push citizens into the totally full carriages so that the doors can be closed.

The Moscow subway is the most beautiful in the world. The most astonishing stations have been built in the Stalin period. During the Brezhnev epochthe pavillions of the Moscow subway have been constructed without excesses. During the Elzin-Putin times the subways are built again in a big way. Taking into consideration the fact that there are 7 million passengers daily, the specialists admired how the employees keep so many marble surfaces clean.

New York subway has 468 stations and is 1,5 thousand kilometers long. This is one of the few subways that works 24 hours a day.

The citizens of London are stubborn and call their subway "underground", though 55% of it is located above the ground. This is the oldest subway on the planes (since 1863).

The Berliner U-Bahn has probably the most curious history. Built in 1902, this subway has connected all parts of the city together but afterwards, with the erection of the Berlin wall it has been divided. The trains from the western Berlin have rushed past by the stations of the eastern sector without stops. In 1989 the subway has been united again and now the Berlin subway transports about 400 million people per year.

The Paris subway goes not far away from the Eiffel tower, the Triumph Arc and Louvre. The subway is famous for it's architectural style Art Nouveau and at some stations you can see pictures from Louvre, copies of course.

Shanghai is the third Chinese city that has a subway. Already for 12 years it has the longest subway in the country. It is three times larger than in Chicago.

The citizens of Moscow know well that subway station can be architectural masterpieces. Now the citizens of the Spanish Bilbao know it too, because they got their own subway in 1995. The famous designer Sir Norman Foster has created the interior. The subway has won lots of prestigious architectural awards.

Subway in Hong-Kong is the only one that is owned privately, not by the state. The local owners try to extract incomes from everything, selling fare cards in the trains, which also can be used to pay for goods in the shops, restaurants and parkings.

And at the end of the list is the subway of Chicago. This is one of the seven wonders of the world. Several dozens of years the junction Tower 18 where the tracks from all four directions come together, has been the most busy in the world. Besides, the first suspended railway has been used here.
