The research has been performed by the Mercer company. The result of the research is a list of 50 cities where people live most comfortably.
The estimation of the quality of living has been performed according to 39 criteria by the companies employees that work abroad. The list includes political, economical, social and ecological situation, personal safety, health care services, public transport, quality of the state office services and the educational system.
The European cities dominate in the list. The first city, as in the past year, went to the Swiss Zurich. The second place has been split between Vienna and Geneva. The third place took the Canadian Vancouver. The last place took the Iraq capital - Baghdad.
In the personal safety rating won Luxembourg, the capital of the state with the same name. The second place took Bern, Geneva, Helsinki and Zurich. The last place took Baghdad. The evaluation has been based upon such factors like internal safety, criminality level, investigation institution effectiveness.
In the Western hemisphere in both categories - living quality and personal safety - the leaders are Canadian cities. In Europe the leaders are the cities of Switzerland and Germany. In the Middle East and Africa the first places went to Capetown in SAR and St. Louis at Mauritia. In the Pacific region the first places went to Wellington, Oakland (New Zealand) and Sydney (Australia). |
