Underwater hotels are not an exotic anymore |
Underwater hotels are of great demand among the tourists. Unlike the space hotels that will be actually built in the nearest future, the underwater hotels are nothing extra-exotic, what however does not reduce their values and attractiveness for the tourists.
The "Jules’ Undersea Lodge" in Florida, USA is located at 21 feet depth in a small mangrove lagoon in Key Largo, Florida. In the 1970s the future underwater hotels was a research laboratory in Puerto Rico. You can watch barracudas, angelfishes, humpbacks and other tropical fishes in their natural habitat.
The hotel is equipped with all the necessary facilities: air conditioning, hot shower, "galley", DVD-players, library. The cost of stay, including breakfast and lunch - from $375 per night. Professional divers have the opportunity to dive as long as they want; others can get a couple of lessons and get a certificate for $150.

Another underwater complex should get opened in 2009 - "Poseidon" at Fiji. You can get to the 5-stars resort that is located at the 40 feet depth with the use of a special elevator. Seventy percent of the rooms have transparent external walls to let the guests enjoy the mysterious underwater landscapes. A small submarine will also be available. The supposed cost of one night stay is $1500.
The competitor of "Poseidon" is "Crescent Hydropolis" with the total square of 27 acres that is being built at the bottom of the Persian Gulf in Dubai at the depth of 66 feet. The cost of the project is $550 million. |
