Police and fire departments in Northern Mexico are learning to treat the bears |
The policemen and firemen of the capital of the northern Mexican state Nuevo Leon - Monterrey, are urgently learning to treat.. bears. They even had to organize special courses with biologists, because the clumsies have become frequent guests in the industrial megapolis with multi-million population.
Each week mass media reports about another "intrusion" of a brown bear to the territories that humans think they are completely owned by the mankind and therefore are absolutely unprepared to meet the beast. That is also clear, because the north of Mexico is actually not Alaska, where people travel specially to see the bears.
As the scientists suppose, the Mexican Bruins were driven off the mountains by the heat and drought that are raging out this year at the northern territories bordering with USA. The bears search for water in the suburbs and quickly understand that it is much easier to find also food near the human dwellings.
Luckily, such neighborhood didn't end with any tragedies for the people. But one bears is already dead in the Monterrey suburbs. The casualty of the animal happened because the locals have tried to catch it on their own, having no idea about the correct actions in this case that would minimize the risks. This is the reason why the authorities have decided urgently to prepare the emergency service officers to "meet the bear".
In the meanwhile, the developed industrial district of the Northern Mexico are caught with a real "bear boom". The Bruin images are already at all t-shirts, posters and even on the sides of the buses. The biologists are happy with this agiotage. But they recommend that the bear images should be accompanied with a slogan, telling people that it is not a very good idea to try to meet the clumsy closer. |
