Dozens of thousands of people gathered on Sunday at the main square of the Spanish Pamplona to take part in the solemn ceremony that starts the yearly grandiose fiesta.

It is dedicated to the St. Fermin, the protector of the city and therefore is called "Sanfermines". The holiday lasts for more than a week and takes place in the old city of Pamplona. Impetuous joy in the streets, music, food and drinks all days and nights long - are essential parts of the festival.

The most impressing moments of the holidays come, when the outraged bulls are let out to the narrow streets of the city and the brave volunteers are trying to escape them. The Run of the Bulls - is one of the most spectacular events of the festival. Thousands of extreme lovers demonstrate their dexterity and courage each year. Chased by six outraged animals, they should overcome 800-meter distance from the yard, where the bulls are kept, till the arena, where corrida takes place.

This is a holiday that has more than 400 years of history and is famous far behind the borders of Spain and is described in the Ernest Hemingway books. Each year the festival attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world that want to watch the breath-catching show.

"This in unbelievable. I have never seen anything like this in my life!",- tells a 21-years old Stephanie Degonda that came to the festival for the first time in her life. "I have heard many times about this, but seeing it - is quite another thing",- admits 22-years olf Anne Stampy that had to fly for many hours from Brisbane, Australia to make her dream come true.

The first bull runs will take place on the 7-th o July and will take place every day till the 14-th of July and will be broadcasted on the national TV.

But the dangerous leisure sometimes ends with serious injuries and sometimes with casualties. According to the statistics that begins in 1924, this attraction has taken lives of 13 people. The last fatality has been recorded in 1995 - the bulls trampled down a 22-years old American.

In the last years fiesta in Pamplona is accompanied with protest demonstrations that are arranged by the animal protectors. According to the already established tradition, the day before the festival they lay themselves along the streets, where the bulls will be running. Their half-naked bodies are spilled over with paint that imitates blood and they hold posters in their hands that protest against corrida.
