Eiffel tower will be more accessible for the tourists |
Today the company that operates the Eiffel Tower in Paris has announced the beginning of the reconstruction, what will allow to fasten and ease the tourists access to the main symbol of the capital and the whole France.
They plan to invest 170 thousands euro till 2015 in a list of technical novelties. The handicap access to the tower will be enhanced, in particular into the old elevators of the Eiffel times. More attention will be paid to attract the school pupils and Parisian public that makes only 2% of the tickets volume.
An important role in the process of increasing the attractiveness of the tower complex, is given to the "Altitude-95" restaurant that is being currently reconstructed and is located at the second floor of the tower.
The first floor restaurant - "Jules Verne" - has already been reconstructed last year. It's wonderful design and improved food quality attract currently more and more visitors. The interior design of the both restaurants is ended-up by Patrick Jouin - one of the most fashionable designers of Paris.
Besides, the Eiffel Tower will make a step into the Internet - everybody can order a ticket online. It will be reserved for a certain entrance date and time. Such service exists already for a long time, but is being used only for touristic groups.
The modernization process will touch also the souvenir shops of the first floor - currently they are in pretty poor conditions. This is probably the reason why the visitors of the tower spend only about 3,5 euro for the souvenirs.
A grandiose reparation will be performed at one of the three hydraulic elevators that has been invented by the Gustave Eiffel himself. They have been slightly modernized afterwards. Because of the ongoing changes only two elevators will serve millions of tourists. during the following one and half years.
At the foot of the tower there will be at last a cloak-room created, what will allow the tourists to leave there their baby-carriages and backpacks that are sometimes pretty heavy.
The wait time in the queue for the tickets will be enhanced with new mini-cafes at the foot of the tower. Those who would like to drink champagne not at the ground, but at the top - there will be such an opportunity at the very top of the tower - in almost 300 meters above the streets of Paris from 17 till 22 o'clock.
The tower will be gradually entering the celebration atmosphere - in 2009 it will celebrate it's 120-th anniversary. During the time that is still left before this date - there will be events attached to the anniversary each month at the famous Eiffel construction.
The main point of interest of Paris and France still remains the most visited touristic object of the country. France itself keeps the world tourists popularity leadership - 75 million people yearly. About 7 million people visit the tower yearly.
The construction of the tower began in 1887 on the Mars Field and ended in May 1889 - to the opening of the second World Industry Exhibition in Paris (the first one took place in London in 1825).
The height of the tower is 324 meters (including the 22-meter long antenna), it has 1665 footsteps and you can see the whole French capital from the height of 300 meters. |
