A journalistic investigation in hotels shocked America. |
The journalists of The Fox American broadcasting company have found out that the high expense of a hotel doesn't mean good service. "We want to show you, that, it doesn't matter how much you pay for a room, you will always want to bring your own glass to drink from" - journalists say. By the means of hidden cameras a group of journalists pretending to be usual travellers, found out, what parlourmaids do in the numbers of the magnificent hotels and how well they wash glasses. As an experiment. Some glasses soiled with sticky lemonade and lipstick were left on purpose in each of the numbers the journalists stopped in.
One of the most "innocent" offenses of parlourmaids in hotels was that they simply rinse glasses, not washing them in fact. In one of hotels the parlourmaid was cleaning the bowl with a special cleaning liquid on which was written with big letters «Do not drink» and splashes of this dangerous for health chemical substance got on the glasses standing nearby. In another hotel the parlourmaid washed the glasses wearing the same gloves in which she just cleaned a toilet bowl. The experts, to whom the record made by the hidden camera was shown, got horrified: the glasses looked clean, but they were hazardous for health - after all there were those bacteria and viruses on them which usually live in a toilet bowl. Using such a glass, the lodger of the hotel risks to catch salmonellae, herpes or hepatitis.
Then in the same way the parlourmaids from hotels of an average price category were spied, in order to find out whether they do the work better, than their colleagues from the expensive hotels. In each room where dirty glasses were left, three hidden cameras were fixed. The observers were convinced of the fact that the parlourmaid of a four-star hotel preparing the room for the following visitors wiped the washed up glasses with the dirty towels thrown by lodgers on the floor. The experts-physicians consider that such "an exchange of microbes" can be very dangerous.
"The majority of these procedures are unacceptable", - declared the representative of The Department of Public Health Services of the district where journalistic investigation took place. According to journalists, the glasses in the numbers of some hotels did not know what soap or hot water is, for years. And thousand of lodgers used those glasses and their health was submitted to serious risk of infections. Glasses were taken for analysis, and a variety of microbes that was discovered on them after they were "washed up", shocked the journalists. The plot of this investigation was broadcasted on The Fox television channel and caused a storm of spectators' reactions. The Public Health Services Department ordered to all the hotels where the investigation took place, to wash glasses "properly". All is left to do is to hope, that the parlourmaids will obey the officials.
