Mountain skiers who plan to ski in Switzerland should be prepared for a surprise. The country’s authorities have determined a speed limit at mountain slopes.

It should be mentioned that everything shall be arranged in a serious manner. All Swiss resorts shall be equipped with observation cameras and speed detectors – just like the police. If a skier exceeds the speed by 30 km/h, he shall immediately be fined or deprived of his pass to the slope. As a rule the speed of 30 km/h is the average speed of a beginner. Professionals ski at a bigger speed that usually is two times higher.

By means of these measures officials are going to make lives of mountain skiers safer. According to the statistics, seventy thousand accidents, including those with lethal outcome, have been registered only this year.
