Magic flying carpets already have their modern embodiment. Now, Danish architects have invented a new technological interpretation of another fairy tale-ish attribute – the hut on chicken legs. In a short time walking houses will be built in accordance with the new project.

The design for buildings, which would move on their six mechanical lower extremities, was elaborated by the non-profit art group named N55. The aim of their new invention – is the artificial changing of life environment of a person, who is forced to live constantly on the one and the same place.

Architects and designers themselves (they are four) live together in a small one-roomed flat in the center of Copenhagen; the flat is at the same time their working office.

The “walking house” weighs 1 ton and has only one room, which has 2.3 meters aloft, 2.4 meters widthwise and 8 meters lengthwise. As said by the project’s authors, four people can live on such a small floor space.

The house will move with the help of 12 engines, which will allow it to outstretch the “legs” in order to raise higher, and even to step over the barriers. The speed of such a house will be not above 5 km/h, however, it could move around within the city limits, as well as outside the city, not harming the nature and environment.

While using this way of movement, any pollutant emissions into the atmosphere are excluded. The facilities of the house will be energized from natural sources: solar and wind generators. There will be all the necessary conveniences inside the house: toilet room and even a stove running on firewood.
