New York citizens think that before seeing the old year out, the new year in, they should get rid of unpleasant memories. To do this, one should go on Times Square, where garbage cans and paper shredders are installed. Every person can write everything unpleasant happened to him this year on a sheet of paper and then put it in the shredder. Those, who checked this method, state that disposition immediately becomes better and unpleasant memories vanish away.
There are various traditions in many countries concerning the New Year celebration. For example in almost all post-Soviet countries it is usual to perform a general cleaning over the whole house to get rid of things that have not been used during the whole year. They say that if you did not touch a thing once during the year - you don't actually need it - and therefore it should not occupy place in your house anymore. |
