| Spanish Capital Hosts “Funeral” of Sardine in XVIII Century Tradition (6 Feb. 2008) - In Spain there is an ancient tradition - to bury the sardine. The tradition comes from an occasion when the Spanish authorities have decided to treat the population with sardines, but these were rotten and the population, being already not really sober because of the free wine that was accompanying the sardines, has decided to bury the sardines solemnly. |
